Mike’s Unexpected News

Mondays are always quite busy days for me. There is a glut of work to catch up on in the email department (more than 200) and a whole lot of other stuff which takes up time. As a result I didn’t go to gym at 8am. I have noticed recently that Mike has been expecting me to go at that time and when I haven’t he has asked when I am going. It has sort of been putting out his routine when I don’t go at my normal time, or so I thought. Then today, the truth came out. I worked for about an hour and then went to pick up Riana who had dropped her car at the mechanic and needed a ride home. Mike thought I’d be going to the gym quite soon after that, but I still had work to do and decided to go at lunchtime.

When he heard this, he announced something surprising. “Okay,” he said, standing in the middle of the bedroom. “I’m going to go for a run.” “Huh?” That was unexpected.  “Why?” I asked. “I just feel like it.” I was already in my gym clothes so after finding out where he was running, I joined him. Turns out he has been running for TWO WEEKS!! Each morning, when I leave the house to go to gym and think I am leaving him sleeping in, he gets up, gets into his running kit and goes for a jog around the short block. The short block is only about 400m, so he does it multiple times. We ran around and around and around. It was hot, but enjoyable. In the end I did 2.8km.  Mike is far more athletic than I am. We must have been an interesting sight…another good reason to run at the gym.

#777 of my 1000 thanks is for running around the block with my husband. I ran at the gym on Saturday, but my knees don’t approve. Fast walking is better for them, but they do improve with collagen and rest.

On my return, I did a little more work and then went to gym.

I also did a load of washing, ordered food for the week and paid a few bills. I was about 6 hours on the clock of my paid work.

All in all a profitable day.

More good news from today is the dam levels. This is the comparison since 2014.

More rain is forecast for tomorrow and the days ahead. It would be wonderful if it could push the dam levels over 70%.

Isaiah 40:8

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

  • Jog 2.8km with Mike.
  • Cycled 15 minutes
  • The Big 5 – We did each of the following 5 exercises for a minute each, then had 2 minutes break before doing them again. Another 2 minute break before the last set:
  • 1) Burpies/running on the spot.
  • 2) Boxing with 2kg weights.
  • 3) Planking – lifting alternate legs.
  • 4) Back lunges with weights.
  • 5) Squats with 8kg ball.

My heart rate was 151 at the end.

Cycle 5 minutes to cool down. Then I did a few sets of weights on different machines.
