Mike’s Next Eye Appointment

The feature of this last day of July 2018:

I woke super early (4-30am) concerned that Truffles was sleeping outside. I went out to get water from the tanks, calling her as I did so, but she did not respond. As I bought the buckets of water in, I asked Mike if he wanted coffee. “If you’re offering,” he replied.  So at somewhere round 5am we sat in bed drinking coffee. Then I did my Bible reading and having my laptop next to the bed, I got stuck into work. By 7am, I was soooo sleepy,  I set my alarm for 7-40am and went back to sleep. Mike was already sleeping. I drifted in and out of a dreamy snooze finally being jolted back to wide-eyed wakefulness with the alarm going off. I bounced out of bed, got into my gym kit and was off!

The morning unfolded and at about 1-30pm we left for the doctor, dropping Stacey’s sewing machine and overlocker off at Bernina in Fish Hoek on the way. They are needing a service. We didn’t need to wait long for Dr. Lapere, who was thorough as usual and very encouraging.

He took a scan of Mike’s eye and gave him another examination and declared the eye was fine and there was no further sign of deterioration. He doesn’t need to see him for another four months, and, if that appointment goes well, he won’t have to see him again after that. #740 of my 1000 thanks – With news like that it was not difficult to leave this appointment with a smile on our face and a spring in our step.

I did a whole lot more work after getting home, then we had supper and at 7pm went down to the Neighbourhood Watch meeting. We were so happy to hear that there was only one theft in our area over the last month – I think that’s what was said. It’s very low which is great to hear. Now I am home and tucked up in bed with my electric blanket on. It’s chilly tonight. We desperately need rain again, with very little having fallen this month. Tomorrow is August and a little rain is expected – hopefully it will come.

Psalm 4:5

Put your trust in the Lord.

Such great advice.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

Gym:

  • Fast walk – 30 minutes
  • The Grid – 30 minutes. It was loaded with cardio today, so my heart rate at the end was 165. After one minute, it was 148.
  • Bike ride to cool down – 5 minutes.
