Me As An 8-Year Old

Tuesday

Today was the day…

I Googled my maiden name and found a surprising result. I was wondering if an old school friend (who I cannot find on social media) googled Helga Sones if she would find me online. As I scrolled through the non-identifying results, I suddenly came across this website…

Reuters have started putting old reels online and in the summary it has this:

It was 10th January 1973 and my Dad had taken me and probably Julian to the Rhodesian Open Chess Championship. Vaguely in the far distance recesses of my mind I remember my Dad being asked for my name. This footage was taken of me watching one of the matches.

It was quite fun to find.

For the rest of the day, I went to the old house for a couple of hours, did some shopping and then came home to work.  I had a couple of Skype calls and in the afternoon Mike and I went out to try to find more blinds but none of the regular places we go to have the ones we want.

Courage and Mike are busy working behind the house (where I threw 300+ rocks yesterday) and it’s nearly level so the scaffolding can go up…

Tomorrow Mike hopes to start preparing the roof for the solar panels. Far too windy for that today. We expect it to drop by tomorrow. Slowly slowly we are moving forward.

Meantime, Julian arrives this evening.

The other thing that happened today was a guy called Rob knocked at our front door (at the top of the 80 steps). He has bought a plot two rows behind us (wayyyy up the mountainside). It’s 1000m2 and he paid R650000 for it. The estate agent gave him the wrong information in regard to the plot and its access and he thought he had legitimate access down our 80 steps. Um, No. That’s private land. However, on the other side of us, there is a through ‘road’ that will go from Echo Rd to the mountain and he can use that. We had a good discussion. He’s just taken ownership so the building he wants to put up is way in the distance seeing as he hasn’t got a plan yet. It’s going to be fun to watch. He wants to build rock and thatch.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to go on the heights.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
