Lull Before The Storm

Today has been a beautiful winter’s day. Very little wind and some perfect sunshine. The washing got dry and has been bought in. As I enjoyed the day, I was reminded that it is the lull before the storm.

This time tomorrow, the perfect stillness of the evening will be passed and something monstrous will be blowing in.

Expected to make landfall late Tuesday or early Wednesday, this is what the satellite photo looks like…

If it does arrive as expected, they say wind speeds will be 80km with gusts of up to 100km hour. It gives you all of tomorrow to batten down the hatches. There are also flood warnings. We sure need the rain.

Today has been a good day. I worked for a lot of it, did some shopping, had a walk with Riana and have sorted dinner.

Mavis, our home help has gone to the Eastern Cape for a month, so tomorrow, the day she usually comes, is our house work day.

#315 of my 1000 thanks is for a good night sleep last night. Today, I think I am seeing the end of my cold. My cough is much better and while my nose is still runny, it’s not as bad as it was! Yay!

Today I was talking to someone who has recently had a rotten diagnosis. And it seemed to go from bad to worse. First it was breast cancer with the possibility that it may have spread, so she had a PET scan.  I’m glad to say that was clear. Then they said they had to do a brain scan and it was a tense few days waiting for that result, but I’m really glad to say that was clear as well. So instead of a spread cancer or brain tumour, she now “only” has breast cancer. She said she told her Mom that she never knew she would be so happy to say she ‘only has breast cancer.’ Perspective! It’s all about perspective.

Life can change in a moment.

Job 12:10

“In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”

We have to trust God.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
