Life Under The African Sun

Last night was a very productive night. I fell asleep at some time after 10pm and woke up when Mike came to bed not long before midnight. And then I was wide awake. It was pointless tossing and turning and wondering if the sounds of the night were of a nefarious nature. So I picked up my laptop and started working. By 2am I had done two hours of work and got through 20 emails. That was very satisfying. I closed my laptop at about 2-15am and called it a night, but tossed and turned until 3am. Then sleep, wonderful sleep, came.

This morning it was time to jump into action. We called a security company and a security gate company. I walked to the road site office and had a chat with them about some issues with the road that are causing a security risk for us. Mike spoke to the neighbour and have come up with a solution to secure the week corner.  I did two loads of washing and got on with some work. And I gave the birds a seed ball. Small things!

One of the Bible verses that is going around in my head is this one:

James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything…

Consider it pure joy!

It feels pretty bad. Unsettled, unnerving, irritated, annoyed, angry, violated are all words that come to mind after yesterday’s burglary. This is life under the African sun, but having said that, I know that it can and does happen the world over. I love living under this part of Africa.

No one has died. The loss is of material stuff only.

It’s the violation and brazenness that gets to me.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us.

We forgive because we are forgiven.

Good will come out of this.

I will not let it rob me of my joy.

Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now. Otherwise you will run out of time.

We found all the keys for our inter-leading doors and last night locked them all. A couple of the locks needed “help”.  My clever husband who helps locks work….

#388 of my 1000 thanks is for more than two hours of work I got done in the small hours of the night.

High five!

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
