Life of Compromise

I love to watch Britain’s Location Location Location with Kirsty Althorp and Phil Spencer. There’s one word that always comes up during it and that is Compromise!

The longer I spend on planet earth, the more I understand that perfection is never to be reached.

One of the most recent Location programmes featured a husband and wife who wanted two different things. For him, the perfect location was all important. For her, the perfect house was all important.

The problem was they were never going to find the perfect house in the perfect location.

Someone had to compromise on what they wanted.

There are always going to be trade-offs. I also see it in the programme House Hunters International.  House hunters come with a long list of what they want. Their entire wish list does not exist! Something has to go. Sometimes all they want is available but in a place above their budget, so that’s where the compromise lies. If they want to get in budget, they have to trade an extra bedroom or outside space or settle for a different location.

As I watch these people on their journey to finding a home, I love to see the transition from being absolutely determined to not budge on their wish-list to  eventually becoming flexible and accepting a compromise or two. They begin to whittle down to what is really important.

Compromising in finding a house is one thing. But there are areas where there should be no compromise.

We should not compromise our Christian faith.

Psalm 119:10

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

Do not stray to one side or the other. Keep your eyes on the prize.

One day, we will be in heaven.

No compromise.

  • We should not compromise our moral values.
  • We should not compromise honesty and integrity.
  • We should not compromise truth.

Sometimes that’s not easy, but it’s worth it.

This week has had its ups and downs, I have to admit. I haven’t had the success that I would have liked, but I know that God is in control. I can’t control people.

I pray daily for the Lord’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

So be it.

#261 of my 1000 thanks – I’m grateful for Easter and all that it means.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God Bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
