It’s Hard To Believe This Is Happening

Monday

Today I got another message from my plans lady.

We don’t cross fingers or hold thumbs. We trust the Lord!  That’s more effective. But it is amazing that the scrutiny fees are just around the corner.

It’s hard to believe this is happening. We really thought our Simon’s Town side neighbour would object and that would draw the process out to be long and hard. Every time Mike and I walked to Echo we would end up having a long conversation about how we would tackle the situation when the neighbour objected. We pretty much believed it would be a forgone conclusion that he would object and that this would push our build back at least 6-9 more months. We guarded our heart, lowered our expectations and expected the worst, when in fact, the best case scenario has unfolded.

Something else has happened as a result. The delay was over winter when building would have been difficult. The delay also made David rethink his plans for 2020. Initially, he was planning on staying in Cape Town and had a business interest in mind using our current home. When the build didn’t happen as planned, he put that on hold. Then suddenly a couple of weeks ago, he saw a very interesting job in China. Within a matter of days, he had applied, interviewed and succeeded in getting it. So, now the musician is off to China to teach English for a year. It’s not in any polluted, over crowded Chinese city either. No, David is selective. He grabbed the opportunity to go and teach in a small town high up in the north of China where the long cold winters have an average high of -10C! The minimum is -22C. Summer is very short and mild (Max 20c). But it comes with a good salary with excellent saving potential and being in the northern hemisphere, the opportunity to travel.  It feels so right for him to do this, so we are fully behind him and very excited for him.

There’s one other thing to add to this adventure. David is not going alone. His childhood friend, Stuart (the tenant who feeds Truffles when we are away) has also secured a job in the same school. David told Stu about the opportunity. He jumped on the bandwagon and they are going to be going together. This is a very good thing, considering that no one speaks English in these rural parts. David will at least have someone with whom he can communicate!

It’s all good. It seems strange that after David leaves in January, when we see him again, God willing, we will be living in the new house AND I will have finished my orthodontic work. Currently building a new house and a new mouth. I wonder which will win!

So that’s the latest news.  It is hard to believe that it’s all happening. We are grateful to the Lord. Unless the Lord builds the house, they who build it labour in vain.

Today I’ve done some work , gone to gym and did some shopping.

It’s a very early blog, but I had things to say so it was quick and easy to write!

1 John 5:14

This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Amen!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

  • Cycle – 10km
  • Run – 3km
  • Swim – 400m (16 lengths)

It was so wonderful in the pool. After the 16 lengths, I played around a bit and just enjoyed the water.

Braces:
