Heavy Duty

Monday

Today was the day…

That I was on Heavy Duty! I got up at 5am and started clearing some of the 400 emails. This is what happens when I do no work over the weekend. I worked until 7am and then fell back to my regular routine of coffee, Bible reading and to the beach. The sea was COLD. I found it colder than any other day this year. Mike didn’t have his thermometer so I didn’t get an accurate reading. I still spent 30 minutes swimming.

When we got home, things rapidly changed. Late last week, Mike ordered pavers for the various levels. To take advantage of the best transport cost, he ordered all of them. He was told they would come in 2 weeks. Instead, they arrived in 2 days and when we got out the shower post-swim, they were being carried up to the terrace.

I got on with work but at lunchtime when my meetings were over, I went to help. The first round, the pavers were about 12kg. I worked for 18 minutes carrying them one at a time up 45 steps, from the terrace to the middle level. Then I went back to easy work at my computer for a little while, before having a section session. I didn’t realise the next batch of pavers were thicker and heavier. These all have to be carried up…it’s the last batch of dozens and dozens of pavers.

The stairs…

I decided to take up 10 slabs. They each weighed 16kg. It was hard work. Eight down, 2 to go…

It took me 25 minutes. Good cardio work out…

There are still about 45 left to bring up. Courage did a lot. He takes them 2 by 2. I don’t think we will swim tomorrow as the wind has picked up and I think rain is forecast.  I may make carrying another 10 my exercise for the day. Right now that feels too exhausting! Heavy Duty for sure!

But after 9 hours of computer work and the exercise, I feel it has been a profitable day. Today we have been in the house for 10 months.

The Bible verse is very appropriate..

Hebrews 13:6

We can say with confidence, “The Lord is my  helper,”

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
