Firebreak Got Cut

Thursday

Today was the day…

The firebreak behind us got cut.  It was a hot day and it is a huge job walking along the firebreak with a heavy duty noisy petrol weed eater cutting back the long grass, thatch plants and shrubs.

The extent of the firebreak behind all the mountainside houses is much bigger than it looks. Mike and I took an evening walk along the back…

That was a lot of grass to cut. At least it’s done.

Today, I worked for almost 5 hours. Mike and I did an early morning walk to buy a few groceries and dinner for this evening. We took a drive this afternoon and I bought a second bird juice bottle.

It’s now hanging up and has already had birds visit it. While at the nursery I couldn’t help buying some petunia seedlings! I have planted them at the front door.  I hope they do as well as the ones Lenore gave me!

Mike, meantime, did a lot more running around than I did. When we walked down to Fish Hoek early, we stopped at the hardware store and bought 5 litres of Primer and a length of shade cloth. Mike got the primer in his backpack and lugged it home. He also went out to buy other stuff to finally finish connecting the hot water cylinder to the electricity. All this time we have been getting our hot water via the sun. It means that tomorrow the scaffolding can be dismantled.

Courage worked in the roof making the electricity connection. The geyser wise is half in. Hopefully that will be finished tomorrow if Mike can get the right part.  Courage  has also cemented up the spot where the extractor fan for the guest toilet exits the house. There apparently is a little more work to do there tomorrow and then we can fill the rest of that area with rocks. That needs to be done so we can build a wall and put up a fence at the back.

The week has blitzed by and tomorrow is Friday.

Ephesians 3:12

Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
