Firebreak Got Cut

Tuesday

Today was the day…

The firebreak behind us got its annual cut. They came out in droves and mowed across the land…

For those of us backing onto the mountain, the threat of fire in summer is always at the back of our minds. Our spot has the south-easter blow from the Simon’s Town side. A little way round the mountain is the Glencairn Quarry, which provides a useful firebreak from any fires that could begin above Glencairn. Fires that blow over Elsie’s Peak generally are swept across the ridge towards the Sun Valley side, so we’ve never felt threatened. Having said that, it is prudent to  keep the firebreak trimmed. It’s also helpful for the owners of the plots behind. They get free plot clearing.

Another busy day in my life today. I worked 7 hours, but also managed a 2km swim, a haircut and to get out to pick up some linen and final supplies for the Little Lookout. A lady, Colette is safely ensconced. I’ve also heard from the guests who arrive on Thursday. I think they are South Korean. I’m looking forward to them coming for 6 nights.

Anyway, time for a little walk to the end of the road.

Romans 5:5

Hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
