Fire In The Church!

12-53

Truly there was a fire in the church, but don’t worry, it was a ‘controlled burn’ and there was a fire extinguisher nearby! Today Pastor Neil preached on one of my favourite subjects, The Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit has made such a difference to my life.

The times that I feel the Holy Spirit most close to me is when I am reading the Bible. He seems to jump out of every page, giving me insight into so much of what is written there. It seems that God has sent His Holy Spirit expressly for us…so many words that Jesus spoke, bear testimony to this…

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever–
John 14:26 But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 15:26 When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.
John 16:7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counsellor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
and then Paul says in Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express

He is also bottomless. You can’t get enough of Him. He is always there, ready to help you. He is there to pick up the pieces when you fall apart. He is there to give you wisdom, to fill you and strengthen you and guide and direct you.  That is my experience of the Holy Spirit. I see Him in the joy I feel, the peace in my heart, the love I have for the unlovely and all the other fruits that are seen in the lives of those who have faith in Christ. Those fruits are fruit of the Holy Spirit. Yeah! One of my favourite subjects!

At the end of the service, we knelt to pray…

That was very special.

It has been an unexpectedly cold and windy day, with a spattering of rain and a chill in the air. It had us heading for bed after an early lunch. With tomorrow a public holiday I don’t have as much show prep to do as usual. Mike will come into the studio with me (don’t expect to hear from him though…not one to adlib, he’s not as talkative as his wife!) and then with Fungai (aka Rachel) at home to see to Granny, we can take some time out after the show.

Meanwhile, a quarter of the way around the world, Adrian and Stacey’s eyes have been opened up to a whole new city. They spent time exploring Kuala Lumpur, ending up at the Pavilion for dinner…

Hope to skype with her soon to find out all their experiences. 🙂

God bless you and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

In His Grip,

Love Helga x 🙂
