Duvet Day

Saturday

Today it was easy to spend most of the day under the duvet. It poured down in the night. The wind blew and the rain swept over the Peninsula. There was not too much storm damage in our area although I know parts of Cape Town did have it.

Mike and I got up and walked – yes, walked! to the Mall. On our way, the first thing we noticed was the electricity box round the corner from us was standing wide open…

The hinges looked as if the door had been forced, but the insides looked in order. It may be that when it was last serviced, it wasn’t closed property and the wind blew it open last night.

We came home, slightly damp, but refreshed from the exercise. Mike made coffee and I went back to bed where I stayed for way too much of the day! Mike meantime, went to make a stand for our solar batteries…

Eventually, I got up and did the dishes and made soup….

I also had a nice long chat with Stacey and had some face-time with Elsie as well. She is adorable, waving at me through the phone. So cute!

Nugget from my journey. On a regular basis as I read through the Bible, I encounter verses where I have put a note of prayer for my grandchildren. Elsie was well prayed for prior to her arrival. When Stacey fell pregnant with her, the Lord answered the prayers of a whole bunch of praying people.  We really rejoiced and embrace every moment of her young life now. We are so grateful. She was a massive answer to prayer!

I’ve found a couple  of new settings on my blog. One is password protected. This is useful if I want to write something for family to see but not necessarily everyone else. The other is private. The purpose of my blog is to capture  my life for the future generations. They will look back in time and read about the mundane and the sometimes interesting. They will ponder on what life was like for us. They will be amazed at some of the things I write about. They will shake their heads at others. It’s for them that I write. If you are one of those future family, you have been prayed for since before you were born. Depending on where you are in the family tree,  you may have been prayed for since before your parents were born! I prayed for you because God knew of your existence since  the beginning of time. I wanted Him to go before you and open doors that no one can shut. I wanted your life to be under-girded with prayer before you took your first breath. I’ve prayed for you. I’ve prayed for your future spouse and I’ve prayed for your children. Prayer surpasses generations because the God to whom we pray is eternal.

Psalm 9:9

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
