Christmas Test Store

I walked into our local Checkers at the Sun Valley Mall the other day and almost went into shock. Jingle bells blared through the loudspeakers. It was unnerving. I felt as if I had been in a time warp and lost a month or two. I felt so unprepared for Christmas – after all it was only middle of October! Others commented on it. Today everything was back to normal at Checkers, but I did smile as I left the store and on the back end of a sign they had this one:

I’ve never seen that before. Pilot store for Christmas – trying out all their Christmas tunes, displaying all their Christmas ware – all in preparation for the real deal!

So funny!

Before Christmas Day chimes in its joyful tune, my niece, Jessica and her fiance, Gerrie will celebrate their wedding and that is more the focus of attention right now.

Exciting times.

Today is another beautiful day in Cape Town. Mike is on a mission to save water and has gone and ordered 2 water tanks (jojos) – when they arrive we need some heavy spring rain to fill them up. My frequently asked question of Mike is ‘can’t they come filled with water?’ The low dam levels mean the summer ahead is going to be laden with water restrictions starting November 1. We are already conserving water from the dishes to thrown onto the lawn. It’s amazing how much water you can save that way. Last week it rained and as it started, I stuck a black bin under the gutter and it filled it. I’m still using that water to water the veggies.

I’ve put a seed ball up in the garden and it brings me to #69 of my 1000 thanks – the sweet sun-birds that are beginning to flit in and out of the bottle brush tree. So sweet. Their birdsong is also so good to hear.

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Yes!

Grateful.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
