Celebrating Rain

A stiff north-westerly wind was blowing when we woke up this morning….it was the promise of rain. Chapman’s Peak was hidden behind a cloud and the bird feeder was being buffeted to and fro. It did not stop a couple of sparrows who fiercely clung to the cage and nibbled at the seed ball….

There was wind and a little pre-frontal drizzle. Mike had gone out and let water run out of the tanks, watering the garden and plants and cleaning the paving.

The real rain began a couple of hours ago and it has been pouring. The tanks are full again. We took the plug off the top and water spewed out in a torrential flow. We filled up a couple of buckets and topped up the 25-litre container and then just had to leave it be. I wish I could feed the water into the gym pool. That would help!

While we rejoice in the rain falling, I am even happier that Cape Town’s dams are also getting their share…

#639 of my 1000 thanks is for the first significant cold front of 2018. Let it rain.

Today was a busy work day. I laboured through close to 200 emails. It took the best part of 8 hours, but it is done. I have caught up.

Talking of labour, it was exciting to see the new British prince make his arrival.  What’s unexpected is that Prince George was born on 22nd July which is my Dad’s birthday and his younger brother was born today 23rd April, which is my Mom’s birthday. Had she lived, she would have turned 86 today.

Stacey had a doctor’s appointment today. My first little grand-daughter is formally due on 18th May, which is three weeks on Friday. All is well. She is almost three kilos. Stacey did her pre-admission, so when she goes into labour, the paperwork for the hospital is done. You have no idea of how excited I am! As soon as she goes into labour, we will drop what we are doing and head off to be support staff! Stacey is having the baby in a hospital an hour and a half away from where they live, so that’s where we will head, check into a bnb and wait for the phone call.

Our family is growing.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
