Cape Town Dam Levels 65%

Tuesday

Just for history, today Boris Johnson was voted in as the new British PM. British politics are about to get a whole lot more entertaining. I think as far as eccentricities go, he probably is the most similar to Winston Churchill. Articulate, verbose and entertaining, he is fun to listen to. It’s going to be interesting to see if he can get the UK out of the EU, albeit with much kicking, screaming and gnashing of teeth. He’s got his work cut out for him.  Watching British politics on TV was how we spent lunchtime.

Apart from that, probably one of the biggest cold fronts we have had in years (or more likely a series of cold fronts) swept over the Cape.

Naturally, this was going to do something great to the dam levels. This is the reading from yesterday –

Today another reading was taken…you can see where all the rain fell…

So the improvement is significant. In one day…

  • Berg River went from 92.9 to 95.7%
  • Steenbras Lower went from 57.6 to 57.9%
  • Steenbras  Upper goes up and down as they pump water in and out of it.
  • Theewaterskloof went from 53.6 to 54.3%
  • Voelvlei went from 68.4 to 69.1%
  • Wemmershoek went from 58.7 to 60.2%

And there is more rain tonight. We are so grateful for the rain. The memory of last year’s drought still lingers.

I had an organised day. I worked from bed in the morning interrupted only by two outings – one to the gym and the other to have my haircut with a quick essential shop after. In the afternoon, I had a Skype team meeting and then made dinner. Mike and I decided to walk to the Mall. This was a little on the crazy side as a strong north wind is still blowing and the risk of rain was high. However, we made it to and from in record time with not a drop of rain falling. Mike got his gloves. I got my chocolate!

Tuesday has been a good day.

Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
