Building Costs So Far

Today we got a short little message from Council indicating we are back on the track…

Today I paid the land surveyor. He charged R3000.  I want to cover the costs of the build on my blog for two reasons. Firstly, those who are thinking of building will see the costs both hidden and obvious. Secondly, in the future we will look back and see what everything cost and marvel one way or the other. Because this blog is not shared on social media, I don’t have too many people following it, and I feel a degree of safety within the smallness of it.

Building plans – new build – R27 500
Copy of building plans –  R378
Engineer – R32 600
Conveyancer certificate –  R1 150
City of Cape Town 2nd dwelling – R23 128.41
Foundations Piling deposit – R65 450
Survey of the plot – R3 000
Building plans-current house – R5 500

Total R158 706.41

The next big cost will be the scrutiny fees.  When the build starts in earnest the builder will be billing us weekly.  Once that starts, the money tap will be turned on and there will be a steady flow. My spreadsheet will go from ten simple lines to hundreds. Exciting times ahead!

Today has been  a gentle day. I worked 5 hours and 20 minutes to be precise.  I woke early, did some work, went to gym, came home, showered, met Julian, David and Mike (he had run down) in Fish Hoek for breakfast. Worked for the rest of the morning and then worked on and off during the afternoon. Then walked to Harbour Bay with Julian.

My teeth are feeling better and eating is getting easier.

Julian and Mike are watching a documentary. I will go and join them. During my internet wanderings I came across this on CNN. So interesting. Puts the royal family in perspective, highlighting how Harry and Meghan’s baby will fit in.

1 John 3:1

See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are.

God’s children. Best Father to have.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
