Bird Got Stuck

Wednesday

Today was the day…

The sun shone,  the sky was blue and the swell of the sea rolled gently towards the coast. It was a perfect summer’s day.

I put yesterday’s blog out before Mike and I went walking. When we got back, as we walked up our stairs, David who was around on our return, saw that one of the sugar birds had got his foot caught in the bird bottle wire. He kept trying to free himself and was getting panicked and stressed. David put on gloves and went to help…

After I took the photo above, I went to lend a hand as well. David took the bottle down and held the bird secure while I gently unsnagged the claw. Off it flew. I hope it survived the stress.

Our walk had turned into a bit of an adventure.

We walked to the Glencairn Spar, but on the way home we decided to take a ‘shortcut’ up the mountain at the end of Echo Rd. Julian will know the hill and the hardness of it. We won’t do it again, I can assure you. I think the Lord put the angels on high alert and had them out in force scaring away snakes and securing loose rocks. This is the beginning…

Up we go…

Rocks on the way up…

Steep ascent…

Mike looking down…

Glad to see the end…

Looking down from the top…

So it’s not a shortcut and the 120 steps on Echo Stairs are a far easier option. I will confidently stride right past this route in the days ahead. Done that and no longer interested!

Today I worked about 5 hours. Mike and I walked to the shops this morning and I walked down this afternoon as milk had been forgotten in the morning.   Mike ordered a load of sand which was dumped on the sidewalk. In the heat of the day, Mike started taking up bucket-loads to the patio.

He paced himself and when he was done, David and Courage finished it off.

I admired the work, but didn’t lift a single bucket!

Today, Courage also worked in the cottage to get some long-needed maintenance done. We need to get some primer for him to finish there.  I need to get some appliances and clear cupboards.

This evening we are expecting load-shedding – the power to be out from 8pm to 10:30pm. The solar is up and running and this turn of events should not affect us. 🙂

Psalm 4:5

Put your trust in the Lord.

Simple.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
