Biopsy Done & Dusted

Today was a good day! The sun rose and it was warm and sunny. I did an hour of work before meeting Julian for breakfast. I then went to gym. On my way home the thoughts came into my mind of Mike’s last two main illnesses…bladder cancer almost ten years ago (he had it for a week) and then more recently the issue with his eye. On both occasions there was great anxiety prior to the procedures starting. We were so uncertain of the future. Just like now. On both occasions, all went well. Everything turned out far better than we anticipated. As I drove, the phrase popped into my mind, “The Lord will make the rough places smooth.” And right after it, the words of the last couple of verses of Psalm 121 “The Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and your going both now and forever more.”

I arrived home and said to Mike, “I’ve got something to tell you. Let’s make tea and go and sit out back.” So we did just that. We sat outside in the sunshine and I spoke the words I had thought on my way home.

A few hours later, we were at the hospital for the biopsy…I asked for permission to be with Mike when he was having it done…

It was quick and painless. Three samples of tissue were taken and sent to the lab. Now we wait. We hope to have the results on Monday. The doctor said it looked ‘inconclusive.’ Yeah, I remember that word from my research. A lot of these nodules are inconclusive. He said that it didn’t look particularly bad, but it looked big enough to need further examination which was why we went today.

#714 of my 1000 thanks is for first world medicine. We are blessed to be able to have access to this level of medical care.

If the results come back benign, that’s first prize. If there are any malignant cells, we’ll have to see which kind they are and take it from there. We’ll take whatever comes.

God is always good. He never changes and the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. He has shown Himself faithful and that will be our experience forever.

My diary Bible verse today:

Romans 8:17

“Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us.”

After we got home, I caught up with some work and then went for a walk with Julian. Mike, Julian and David then watched the soccer before dinner. Now they are downstairs seeing Belgium take a 2-0 lead against Brazil. Much discussion happening! Laughter and awe floating upstairs. They clearly want Belgium to win.

Truffles is staying out of it…in her box as I speak…

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

  • Next 5 minutes – hill set at 5.
  • Minute 20-21 – hill set at 6.
  • Minute 21-22 – hill set at 7.
  • Minute 22-23 – hill set at 8.
  • Minute 23-24 – hill set at 9.
  • Minute 24-25 – hill set at 10.
  • Minute 25-26 – hill set at 11.
  • Minute 26-27 – hill set at 12.
  • Minute 27-28 – hill set at 13.
  • Minute 28-29 – hill set at 14.
  • Minute 29-30 – hill set at  maximum = 15.

That was a good workout!  It went by in a flash. Heart rate was 155.

Then I did the circuit and a whole lot of other machines.

Did 70 minutes altogether.
