Are You Family?

Wednesday

Today was the day…

Mike and I had a big laugh at the beach. Mike went for his run. I went for my swim. He got out and went to the changing rooms to change. I got out and went to the bench. There were a couple of older gents on the bench next to mine and so we had some chit chat mainly about the temperature of the water (which was pretty cold this morning). Mike returned and we sat on the beach together drying off and hoping the sun would come out from behind a thick cloud.  As we finished up, we stood to leave, Mike packed the rucksack and we were about to set off, when one of the men asked, “Are you family?” He was trying to figure out the relationship between Mike and I. Mike said, “she’s my wife!” I chipped in, ‘we’ve been married 35 years’. He seemed shocked ‘how many?’ he asked. I repeated ’35’.  And with that Mike and I bid them goodbye and set off for home. We had a good laugh. I have just had my hair cut and then happened to get my eye brows waxed and tinted. It immediately, for this day,  made me look younger…

The beach guy couldn’t quite figure out how we went together. We were very amused!

The other thing that happened while in the sea was I had a front row seat to a cormorant’s breakfast. I was just swimming into the beach, when a cormorant landed on the water a few metres away. There was a shoal of fish (I saw a couple of them jump out the water) and this bird was absolutely determined to catch one of them. He ducked and dived and after a couple of attempts he was successful. He came up with a fish in his beak and with great care and skill he maneuvered it into his mouth and swallowed it whole. Slurp! Gone!

I swam almost to the end of the cat walk this morning.

And I worked almost 7 hours.

Dinner with Julian and David at the Sav followed. We walked there so enjoyed dinner all the more.

Psalm 145:1-2

I will exalt You, my God and King, and praise Your name forever and ever. I will praise You every day; yes, I will praise You forever.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
