80 Steps

Mike has been spending hours designing the house on the mountainside. Today he dropped the bombshell. It will take 80 steps for us to get from the street to the front door.  80 steps. That’s a lot of steps. It will look about as many as this…(part of Jacob’s Ladder)

Imagine if we left something in the car? No quick nipping out to the shop for milk! If we want the view, we have to climb to get it.

What is useful about his enormous number of steps, is that we have to put in a funicular. This is all in the planning stages. This sure isn’t going to happen overnight. We have a long way to go, but any new build starts with a plan. Today we spent some time on the phone to funicular people and got some measurements for what is required. I think Mike’s brain hurts.  There have been many conversations about this. Tomorrow Julian arrives and as he is co-owner and will pay for half, he will have to be updated with all the new information. Then once we are all happy, we will send the plans to the architectural draftsman and get the show on the road.

This sign may be a bit premature, but I’m an optimist!

I didn’t have too much work today – only a few hours. It has been a lovely sunny day so I took full advantage and did two loads of washing, got it out, got it in and folded it all up.  There was a lot of it.

After dinner, Mike and I watched a spellbinding edition of The Good Wife. It had a curve ball in the middle which we really didn’t anticipate. It took us completely by surprise. It was very good.

#682 of my 1000 thanks is for 70% dark chocolate. Love it!

In this mixed up world, we certainly need wisdom. Here are some of its characteristics:

James 3:17

The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Humanly speaking, that is a challenge. But God.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

I got to gym a bit late today. I had a Skype call from my colleague in the UAE. I ended up driving to gym with her on speaker phone (still on Skype), getting into gym and onto the treadmill still speaking. Technology is amazing.

  • Walk – 19 minutes
  • Grid – Not too bad today – 30 minutes. I can tell how difficult the Grid is by my heart rate when I get on the bike to cycle down. The other day, after a particular gruelling Grid, by the time I got to the bike, my heart rate was 147. On Friday it was 130. Today it was just over 120. Pretty tame!
  • Cycle – 14 minutes.
