6 Generations of Faces

A few weeks ago I posted information about China on my work Linked In profile. My half cousin, Michael, commented. I had received a Christmas Card from Michael and Kate but they did not include their email address and I couldn’t find it in my contact list, so you can imagine I was really pleased to see he was on Linked In. I replied and he sent me his email address which led to me dropping him a family update.

He wrote back, mentioning that I may be interested in following part of his family tree as it included his Mother (Barbara) who was my Mom’s half-sister. When I followed the link I was fascinated. I hadn’t really know how it all fitted together, until now, but what thrilled me most were a couple of photos at his Mom’s wedding. It was 1938 when Barbara married. My Mom was 6. She doesn’t look very happy, but what a beautiful dress.

There as also a photo of my Grandmother (Mops – on the left) and her Mother (My Great Grannie – Agar – on the right). I’d never seen a photo of Agar before. My Mom looked just like Mops and I remember Mops when she looked just like her Mother.

So there was:

  1. Agar – born around 1870.
  2. Mops – born in 1899 (I think).
  3. My Mom – born in 1932 – this at our wedding in 1986 (Mike’s Dad next to her)
  4. Me – born in 1964.
  5. Stacey – born in 1987 and now….
  6. Elsie – born in 2018. (Precious photo!)

6 generations of faces.

Let another 2-3 decades slip by and another face God willing, shall appear. Elsie will probably be the one to add the photo.

Today has been a lovely day.

We made the 8am church service and afterwards went to Echo. There has been a lot of water usage and we were looking for a leak. Mike took his tools and did some preparatory work which he will complete tomorrow. David arrived while we were there. We had tea and then came home. Then Mike went to the driving range. I went to the gym. Lunch was had between 1 & 2. Just after 2pm, the electricity went off. If there is to be load-shedding, I have to admit that 2-4pm on a Sunday afternoon is the most convenient!

At 4pm, John and Avril Thomas came over for tea. It was wonderful to catch up and to hear God’s amazing provision for the Living Hope East London Ministry. Exciting times ahead. One day in eternity, we will hear all the answers to prayer that God ever made. What testimonies will be told. One of them will be this one :

Living Hope needed to buy land in East London. The piece they were planning on buying  was due to be financed by a church in the US. Suddenly the owners of that land suggested Living Hope buy their whole property, but as a result the price went up 4 times. They approached the American church to tell them. The Pastor said they had the first amount but not the larger amount. On the Sunday morning on the way to church, he felt prompted to tell the church about the greater need, so he did. After church, a man, who had never been to the church before, approached the Pastor and asked to meet with him. He explained he had a business and had an amount of money that he needed to tithe. It was (apart from a couple of grand) the exact amount needed for the whole property. Furthermore, he and his wife had visited South Africa not so long ago and had agreed it would be cool to use their tithe for a ministry in South Africa. They just seemed to be waiting for God to give them the direction they needed. He did. They visited a church for the first time one Sunday morning and and that’s where God put His plan in action. The Pastor gets onto the platform and talks about a ministry in South Africa that is in need of some finance – and goes onto mention a figure very close to the one that this man and his wife have waiting to give away.

That’s how God works.

Romans 5:2

Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

A wonderful testimony.

I have not done any work today, but I did peek into my email. Tomorrow is the day to deal with it.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
