5 Boats & Venus

Friday

Today was the day…

That began with 5 boats and Venus. It is a blessing that both Mike and I are comfortable sleeping with our bedroom blinds up. We have been in this house for 20 months and not a night has passed that we haven’t gone to bed with the lights of the city and sky twinkling into our bedroom. We drop the blinds in the morning when the sun is at its brightest, raise them by lunchtime and they stay like that until the next day. Last night when we were off to bed, the boats from Kalk Bay were our companions as they settled into a night of fishing. I slept well again (that’s 2 nights in a row!), waking at 4am and then drifting back to sleep until about 6:30am. By 7am I was in  my rocking chair. As the arc of the rising sun began to beckon the day, I took a photo of the 5 boats and Venus.

The last boat crept back to the harbour around 10pm. Perhaps our fish tonight was caught by one of them.

Work was quiet today. I knew it would be because managers are off. At lunchtime, I walked into Fish Hoek and got some exercise.

Mike meantime, drove across the city to buy me a new cartridge for my printer which ground to a halt last night. He took advantage of the trip and stopped by a specialist shade cloth shop and found some a super duper special. 30m for R800 instead of 30m for R3000. That’s a deal.

It’s great having David around. He leaves in a few weeks and then we won’t see him for a few months. Furthermore, news is beginning to trickle in that China is possibly opening up so he may be able to venture off to the Far East by early next year. Who knows!? It is a blessing that the Chinese school that employed him in the first instance have allowed him to work online for the last few years.

Weekend! I’m ready.

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
