13k walk/21k run/Adrian & Stacey head for Saigon

2-06pm

That’s what our family has achieved over the last 24 hours. First Mike and I did a 13km ramble through Silvermine, which was a great way for us to walk and talk without any form of technology getting between us! 🙂

SilvermineAnd walk we did, for close to 4 hours. The Silvermine proteas are looking amazing…

ProteasBut today has been the highlight. We got up at 4am, made breakfast for David and then headed for Rondebosch to the Two Oceans Marathon! David ran in his second 21km Two Oceans and did very well! He did a time of 1 hour 46 minutes, slightly longer than last year, but still very good. Here he is about 100m from the end…

David with his eye on the finish lineHebrews 12:1 (God’s Word Translation) Since we are surrounded by so many examples [of faith], we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.

Mike & David at the finish…

Mike and David at the finish…which was crazy crowded….At the finishWe were home just after 9am. It was wonderful to climb back into bed. Mike made the most amazing cup of coffee and I warmed up. Then I couldn’t help but fall asleep!

I am thinking of (& praying for), Stacey & Adrian who are packing for Vietnam. This time tomorrow they will be in Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon. They can expect a very crowded, bustling city… the 2008 poll registered a population of 6,650,942 A new adventure begins!

In my prayers and in His Grip,

God bless you!

Helga xx 🙂
