A Collage of 2011 Photos

 

These either are my favourite photos of 2011 or they depict scenes from my life in 2011. Most times, they are both!

JANUARY –  Stacey and David playing the piano.

FEBRUARY – Bible study in full swing. These ladies and times of tea and socialising were very very important to me in 2011!MARCH – Holiday of a lifetime! We went to Dubai, UK and Europe. Julian joined us for the Europe leg. We absolutely loved it! This is us on the London Eye, Mike & I on top of Jungfraujoch in Switzerland and Julian in Florence.

APRIL -Back home in Cape Town and we floated through the month lapping up the afterglow of our holiday. Loved spending time with Stacey at her flat.

MAY – 9th 2011 and Mike & I had been engaged for 25 years. We celebrated by returning to where it happened – Gardens Centre.We had lunch, and snapped this self portrait!JUNE – The photo on the left is one of my favourites of Granny. During June she had dear friends Maria and her son visit. They used to be her neighbours and Granny taught Maria to drive! How time has passed. Granny loves receiving visitors.

JULY -Mike bought a new car! And Rick from the Rick and Bubba Show came to visit. We had an absolute ball on air on of all days the 4th July – American Independence Day. David was listening and still sometimes refers back to things that were said on air! Rick didn’t know it but he taught me a lot that day. His beautiful wife Sherri is an incredible lady.

AUGUST –  Granny turned 87 and we all went out for lunch. And the event of the month – Mike & I rejoiced at the blessing of 25 years of head-over-heels happiness in our marriage. We celebrated first with the family and then on a road trip. We went to hot springs, Tsitsikamma Forest (Did a canopy “tree-top” tour) and then to Hogsback. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary!

SEPTEMBER -Mike & I got front row seats to watch David perform at the Baxter! And I finally got to ride a camel! This was just before one of our many lunches at Blue Water Cafe at Imhoff. BWC is one of our favourite places when my brother Julian comes to town. He came to Cape Town almost every month throughout 2011. What a treat! We all love his visits.

OCTOBER-The shark attack at the end of September dominated many conversations throughout the coming months. I had the privilege of hearing first hand what happened when I interviewed Hugh and Doug who helped the shark attack victim (Michael Cohen)  from the water. Here they are with me at CCFm. Also there’s the shark flag at our favourite Fish Hoek Beach where the drama unfolded. I believe Mr. Cohen continues to make steady progress after his near death experience.

NOVEMBER – My birthday! A Barrel of Smarties cake! That was a winner and one we duplicated for Stacey’s birthday.

DECEMBER – Christmas was a joy, albeit quieter than normal without Adrian and Stacey! Lots of food and indulgences were had by all!

Thank you for being part of my life in 2011. As I look back on the year, I do so with awe and wonderment that it was such a BIG  year. So much happened. So many good things. So few not-so-good things. I can only sit and wonder what 2012 will hold. I know that as I read through the Bible every day being fed from the Word of God, whatever the year brings, I will be directed, guided, comforted, taught, encouraged and motivated by the Lord Himself.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.

To worry about nothing, pray about everything!

That is my motto for 2012!
