A Note To Christian Workers…

Friday 24th August 2012

1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.”

“In the Lord”. That is a key phrase in this verse. Your labour in the Lord is not in vain, implying that labouring outside the Lord’s work is in vain! You are working ‘in the Lord’ in whichever ministry you are in. Sometimes things may get tough. Keep focussed. Don’t think that work outside of your ministry is any less tough. Wherever you go, you will find difficulties. Jesus says to you today, “Choose this day who you will serve,” spoken through Joshua in Joshua 24:15. Serving the Lord may seem undesirable to you. If that is the case, don’t! Get out of your current ministry – go find another job. But, if you choose to serve the Lord,  know that your labour is not in vain. God will reward you. “Barnes notes on the Bible” says, “There will be a resurrection, and you will be suitably recompensed then. What you do for the honour of God will not only be attended with an approving conscience and with happiness here, but will be met with glorious and eternal rewards in heaven.”
