The Elim Massacre

This is sobering. 36 years have passed. I was 13 years old when this happened. I heard about it, but certainly never really knew how many people died – who they were or how old they were. It’s a painful look at one of the worst atrocities that occurred during those dark years.

For me it hurt to read this. The cruelty. The devastating violence. I lifted my hands and covered my face as I imagined the brutality of it all. And I cried out, “Father forgive us.” We all contributed to that war. We all need forgiveness.

Psalm 79 vss 8-10

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations;   may your mercy come quickly to meet us,  for we are in desperate need. Help us, God our Saviour,  for the glory of your Name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your Name’s sake. Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.

Let us never forget.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
