Cape Town’s Heat Wave…

2pm

Sunday in Cape Town and the heat wave the Mother City continues and although there is a slight reprieve tomorrow, generally the warmth continues throughout the coming week…

Weather for the weekSo much for winter weather! But just be pleased you are not in Vredendal today…

Weather in VredendalThere is a lot to be said of those who don’t complain when it is so hot. We all respond in different ways. Some head for the beach, spend the day in the pool, turn up the air conditioner or just lie in the shade of a big ol’ tree, hopefully in a breeze and sleep! In this weather, running for cover is the right thing to do.

And so it is when life get’s a bit too hot to handle. We have to run for cover. I was speaking to someone recently who is going through an extremely difficult time. She has God as her refuge. And yet, from within her despair, she told me that this dark place is but a moment in the light of eternity. We have to be eternity thinkers.

The Bible is full of reminders of the Lord being a shelter when life is difficult. Psalm 91 vss 1-7

1Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
3Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
4He will cover you with his feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

God is faithful. He will hold and protect you. He will shelter you and comfort you. And He will bring you through the heat or the storm. Be an eternity thinker. This life maybe 70 years or 80, if God allows, but the life ahead is eternal – it never ends and it is GOOD! Today, in church, Pastor Neil Smith spoke about the Transfiguration and the Glory of God. One amazing verse that stuck out for me came from Luke 9 vs 30 “Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendour, talking with Jesus.”

And that is our future. We who believe in Jesus will one day appear before Him “in glorious splendour!”

YEAH!

God bless you today!

In His Grip,

Gratitude/Happiness Pic…oh dear, I’ve spent hundreds of rands on sunglasses recently. Two pairs of Bondi-blu just snapped within weeks of buying them. The lady at the shop said I could take them back, but to find the receipt and then find the time, I never got round to it. I thank the Lord for a husband who can do surgery on broken sunglasses…(amazing what you can do with cable ties and superglue)

Sunglasses in stitchesVoila…
